GROW GREAT PLANTS

The best plants are grown organically. May is the month when more plants are planted or transplanted in the garden than in any other month of the year. The homeowner faces the same dilemma growers throughout our country face. Do we follow an organic program or a chemical program? Most colleges and learning institutes have been bought off by the chemical industry. They offer lucrative grants to the teachers and professors of these institutions to carry on trials to support their products. The TV screens are full of advertisements supporting the post War way of gardening.
Miracle Grow is a big name associated with growing beautiful plants but it is one of the biggest killers of microbes that we have. Round Up has become a plague to the organic gardener and the old 5-10 5 fertilizers are usually cheap chemical formulations that reduce the healthy growing of nutritious vegetables. So much of chemical growing is touted with pictures of beautiful flowers, lush vegetables and beautiful lawns. The plague that the chemical companies are frosting on agriculture is a slap in the face to Mother Nature. She is the true teacher whose ways we must follow. She has set up a very sophisticated system that supports itself.
When we fight and kill the workings of that system we are fighting Nature. The natural way is the right way. In our soils there is a very active system. It develops a food web that is the strength of organic gardening. The microbes in the soil work for you day and night. They clean up the toxins in your soil. They feed the roots of your plants and create a rhizosphere where plants thrive. I have written articles which you can read on Naturalgardennews showing you the importance of the rhizosphere for a plant’s well-being and relating it to your well-being.
The strength of a plant is in its root system and the strength of your well-being is in your belly. Your health comes from the ability to build a good biosphere in your gut. Your health, as in the plant world, is depended on the good bacteria fighting the bad bacteria. Mother Nature teaches us many lessons. If we learn to listen to her we will be healthier and better off. The health of our children and our nation depends on it.
Organics or the natural way needs to be learned. The best way to learn it is in our garden. Once we learn to do things organically our whole perspective on life change. So now that it is May and we will be doing a lot of planting in our yards, join the millions that are switching to the organic way.
My book ’12 steps To Natural Gardening’ has become the bible for many organic gardeners. My calendar, my formulas and my short chapters on every gardening subject are packed with vital concise information to help you to become a great organic gardener. Twelve years ago I switched my operation to growing all my plants organically. In 12 years I have never sprayed for insect control. The beneficial insects keep my crops insect free. The quality of the plants I am able to grow is exceptional, I believe they are the best plants grown anywhere. I have learned how to grow plants organically without ever having to spray and I have enhanced with amendments that make for growing great organic plants. The results have been fantastic. A salesman looking at my plants said “You have developed the knowledge that must be taught to the rest of our country”. We need to learn to teach what is right not what is profitable. We need to have a conscience. When we go against Mother Nature we end up creating health problems that can become devastating. I have written a lot of articles on this subject archived in here. Go back and read them when you have time. My father taught me as a kid that a $1.00 plant needs a $5.00 prepared hole.
Krautter’s Year Round Organic Vegetable Garden is the culmination of much of my learning. I was able to invent a structure that in which I could grow vegetables year round that withstood temperatures of minus ten degrees. All of the vegetables survived and thrived and I was able to produce 4 rotations of crops. In addition I was able to re-circulate the water making it self- sustaining.
