FEEDING YOUR PLANTS

I am compulsively dedicated to growing the very best plants. I feed the plants in my Nursery with a liquid organic fertilizer on a weekly basis. I alternate between Nature’s Source; a seed based fertilizer, and Neptune’s Harvest an organic fertilizer which is fish and seaweed based.
The results are incredible with everyone commenting that I grow the very best plants. My greenhouses are filled with lush beautiful plants. Nature’s Source is a seed based fertilizer. A plant puts everything back into its seed to supply the seed what it needs to survive and germinate. Squeezing these juices out and producing a fertilizer leads to incredible results. Nature’s Source is good for everything the home gardener grows. It has no offensive odor. It is easy to mix. Use one tablespoon to a gallon of water. It is a fertilizer that promotes sustainability. It is made from oilseed extracts which contain “Boost Molecules” known to provide overall plant health. My constant use of this product has produced amazing results for me. It is Pathogen free, heavy metal free and GMO free. Neptune’s Harvest products are made from hydrolyzed fish and seaweed.
Their line has 3 products: Fish Fertilizers, Seaweed Fertilizer and Fish and Seaweed Fertilizer. I like the latter for it is a combination of the two. For outdoor use mix one ounce per gallon of water. Why do I recommend alternating? This supports my theory, the larger the mixture of organics that you provide your soil with the greater the results. When you are looking to have the most beautiful plants, the largest and most prolific blooms, the most resistant plants to disease and insect invasion and the healthiest nutritional vegetables, heavy feeding is the secret.
Heavy feeding programs are particularly beneficial to container plants, raised vegetable gardens, and stimulating growth on plants heavily cut back or needing to grow out of winter injuries. Foundation plants can survive with an application of Plant-tone or Holly-tone in early spring. Lawns I like to feed 3 times a year. Once in early spring, once in summer and once in the fall. It is important to use an organic fertilizer and not use the same product for each application. Follow my book ’12 Steps To Natural Gardening’ or my ‘12 Steps To Natural Gardening Garden Calendar’. This book and my calendar will provide you with feeding recommendations for your garden.
How do organic fertilizers work? Organic fertilizers feed the microbes in the soil and the microbes in the soil feed the roots of the plant. This is Nature’s unique system that avoids pollution of our soils and our waterways. Once we develop a good food web we will develop a sustainable system in our soils. Sustainability is Nature’s way and when we follow this system and enhance it, we are creating a healthier world fighting global warming. Our Department of Agriculture, our Universities and our Nation when they switched away from organic solutions to chemical solutions made a huge mistake. The health problems that we are suffering, in my mind, stem from this mistake.
The solution is education. Teach our children Nature’s way; learn from the beautiful sustainable parks that have been created by forward THINKING HORTICULTURISTS. Look at the beautiful park the city has created along the Hudson River. Its influence shows us the positive affect Nature has on us. It teaches us things we cannot get out of books.
