EARTH DAY

EARTH DAY

Earth day always takes place on April 22nd and was started by a Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson.  It went international in 1990 and has become the largest secular Holiday in the world. It is estimated that over a billion people take part in Earth day activities around the world. Earth day has helped galvanize the environmental concerns about water and air pollution and has spurred efforts to clean it up.  It has had a great political and social impact.  But it has also spurred concern over how we live our personal lives and how we can all contribute to saving our earth.

The organic movement of which Sprainbrook has become such a strong advocate is a direct result of these concerns; and my book ’12 Steps To Natural Gardening’ was written because of these concerns. I wrote formulas and developed a calendar for converting one’s yard to a natural way of gardening. I converted my greenhouses to grow all my plants the organic way using organic soils, organic fertilizers and beneficial insects. The results have become absolutely amazing.  In the process I heated my greenhouses with compost heat and solar heat.

I invented ‘Krautter’s Year Round Organic Vegetable Garden’ and have a video demonstrating you how we heated this structure through compost energy, solar energy and thermal energy and how we recycled water. This is a 5- minute video that could be shown in classrooms throughout the country to spur discussions on Earth Day.

Show the video to your children or grandchildren and encourage them to show it in their classrooms. We all need to play a part to save our earth. We are all in this together and join the billions of people who share concerns for the environment. Only together can we make a difference and every person’s contribution is essential. We need to change our thinking and we need to change our life styles. Climate change is real and if we want to save our earth, we all need to get on board and advocate for Nature’s way

Here at Naturalgardennews.com you’ll find many articles  I wrote pertaining to this subject. My book is essential reading dealing with natural backyard solutions that we all can take part in. The organic way not the chemical way is the right way. Take some time to reflect and celebrate Earth Day this week.
